Years of toil, hardships and struggle can be condensed down into a short, sharp moment via a series of shots and the results on an audience can be immense. Notable montages include Magnolia’s musical interlude, The Godfather’s assassination-meets-baptism and Rocky’s step-running training sequence. That being said, here is my favourite:
Having Hynes, Pegg’s old Spaced co-star and co-writer turn up for a cameo in Shaun of the Dead was enough of a treat for any fan of the Channel 4 cult comedy but her second appearance is a cameo classic.
With the Star Wars saga giving birth to an entire universe of iconic characters, the walking carpet himself often gets short shrift. In fact, instead of fans petitioning to have The Last Jedi removed from the Star Wars cannon, perhaps their energy would be better spent campaigning for Chewbacca to receive his “I Destroyed the Death Star” medal at long last.
