Giving the martial arts film festival scene a much-needed kick-start is the Fighting Spirit Film Festival Birmingham. On a mission “to entertain and inspire people, promote martial arts culture, and support those who have chosen it as a career” the festival looks all kinds of aces.
Headlining the 2018 line-up is the UK Premiere of Accident Man, written by and starring Scott Adkins, which is flanked by FSFF17’s winning shorts Blindsided, Express Delivery and Kowloon Killers.
The action also spills from the big screen, as five fighters from Southern Praying Mantis will be demonstrating their tekkers alongside current Tomb Raider star Sam Mak and Steve Coleman (both Wushu World Champions) showing what they’re made of.
Add to that a host of critically acclaimed directors including Beau Fowler (Amber), Leif Johnson (Kowloon Killers) and Phillip Ray Tommy (Cain & Abel and Creep) and I’m already feeling like I need a lie down.
